Dr's Appointment and Week 39!

Hi everyone! :)

So I will no longer have Internet until Mike and I are able to set it up at the new house so I wanted to do our 39 week update now and let everyone know what happened at the doctor's appointment today. So first lets do the fun stuff--we got our last ultrasound today. Ava is still a girl which is always good since a majority of her clothes are pink!! :) She is measuring right on schedule with her due date and looks to weigh about 7 lbs 14 ounces....ultrasounds have about a 15% margin of error so she could be anywhere from 7 lbs to almost 9lbs. Babies at this stage gain about 1/2 a lb a week so worst case scenario is that our little angelface could be almost 10lbs by her due date. YIKES! So with that said--I am going back to see the doctor on Monday to see if she is descending or my cervix opening because as of today I am still 100% closed.

So here's the plan people....Mike and I scheduled a c-section for September 17th because if she's not dropping by Monday we feel the risks of her being huge and hurting either herself or me in the birthing process and going over her due date are just too big. If she is dropping on Monday or showing some kind of progress when I'm checked then the plan is cancel the c-section on the 17th and reschedule it for the 22nd and give her a chance to come before her due date. All 3 of us agree that we do not want her to go past this date due to her size. Honestly, I don't feel anything at this point and while I know that it can happen all of a sudden I'm pretty sure that she will be making her arrival on the 17th. :) I'm excited. One week from today!! :)

So what's going to happen with Ava next week--we already know her approximate weight and they say that babies are around 20 inches long. She is ready to come meet us now and is still packing on the fat so that we can kiss her chubby little cheeks!! The outer layers of her skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath which is kinda gross but I'm sure completely adorable once it happens. :)
