Week 30!

Hi! :) So it's now week 30!! Can you believe it? Only 10 more weeks til Ava is here...give or take a few days depending on when she decides it's time! (Look at the ticker!! We enter the 60's tomorrow!!!) Sometimes I sit down and just can't believe I'm about to be a mommy...it's a strange, overwhelming, amazing, wonderful feeling. Then I look at Michael and him being a dad doesn't seem so overwhelming...it seems perfect. He's going to be amazing!! OK sorry---i have officially entered the hormonal part of pregnancy so you'll have to deal with the schmoopie part of me for the next few weeks)

So now onto what happened at our 3D/4D ultrasound. I'm not going to lie, I was a little bit disappointed. It was amazing to see her, but she was turned towards my back for a majority of it and so we are scheduled to go back next Saturday to try again. Which is nice because we get to see the munchkin again---but you get so excited about seeing her gorgeous little face and then she burys her head into the placenta. She just did not want to play with us yesterday....she slept pretty much the whole time. We got one picture before she turned which I think is adorable. Hopefully next week she'll cooperate and we'll have more to show you guys. :)

This is her profile tilted down. The circle in the middle is her eye, then you can see her nose and gorgeous chubby little cheek. Her hand is up to her mouth at the bottom so you can't see her lips....ahh i can't wait to meet her!!

So other then being stubborn and sleepy---here is what is going on with little Miss Ava Mae. They don't tell you much anymore---I guess because she is a fully developed baby---just needs to fill out a bit more! She is now about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of a cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in my uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Lets all start praying now that she gets Michael's eyesight and not mine!!)

So other then a few hormonal mood swings, we are doing great down here. Still looking at houses/waiting to hear back on the short sale we have an offer in on and hoping to be in somewhere soon. Michael keeps telling me Ava will be coming home to a house of LOVE and that's all that matters---which is true, but to a woman who is about to start the nesting portion of pregnancy it's a little hard to deal with. OK well that's it from our side--more pictures (hopefully) to come next week.

Love,

Rachel (and Mike)
